Memphis-Skirmish

February 9, 1865
Shelby County

On February 9, 1865 a Confederate force near Memphis attacked and captured a Union wagon train carrying wood that was escorted by the 2nd Arkansas, 2nd Missouri and 1st Iowa Cavalry Regiments.  Union casulaties were 2 killed, 4 wounded and 5 taken prisoner.  Property loss included 111 mules.
