On December 26, 1862 Union forces attacked the Confederate position near La Vergne. After skirmishes that followed the next two days, Confederate forces fell back to their lines outside Murfreesboro.
Fort Pillow
On April 12, the cavalry force of Maj. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest’s force surrounded Fort Pillow on the Mississippi River.
