On January 24, 1864 an attack of Confederate forces advancing on the Big Springs and Bear Creek road was repulsed by the 91st Indiana Infantry at Powell’s bridge.
Panther Springs
On March 5, 1864 the Third East Tennessee Infantry (Union) was attacked by Confederate cavalry while on reconnaissance to Panther
