Spring Hill

November 29, 1864
Williamson County

On November 29, 1864 the Confederate Army of Tennessee (Lieut. Gen. John Bell Hood) crossed the Duck River and attacked the IV and XXIII Corps (Maj. Gen. John Schofield) at Spring Hill.  Hood’s strategy to outflank Schofield’s position and lines of supply failed before the Union forces could successfully withdraw and form a defensive line in Franklin.
