BOARD APPROVES TCWPA’S STRATEGIC PLAN

At the May, 2006 Board meeting the Board of Directors approved TCWPA’s Strategic Plan.  The planning team, led by Board Member Mike Countess, prepared the plan to guide our organization for the next several years.  The new mission statement drives the plan’s goals and objectives:

"The Mission of the Tennessee Civil War Preservation Association is to protect, interpret, and make accessible Tennessee’s surviving Civil War battlefields and contributing landscapes for the benefit of present and future generations."

The plan identifies three goals:
*  Develop and implement an effective site preservation strategy for battlefields and contributing landscapes
*  Develop and manage influential information and education services.
*  Develop and maintain effective organizational capacity that is capable of responding to opportunities.

The plan lists strategies for meeting each of these goals.  Additionally the plan identifies who is responsible for getting the job done.
