Join National Park Service battlefield professionals for TCWPA’s next Three-Star Tour at Fort Donelson National Battlefield. Visit recently acquired battle areas not yet part of the national park’s tour route or interpretive programs. Explore where Confederate and Union troops fought bravely, and where leadership made critical decisions that were considered some of the most militarily inept of the Civil War. These decisions set the Confederates up for irreversible defeat and the Union for victory at Fort Donelson.
The tour will feature battlefield lands, shown in gray, that were recently acquired and preserved. Weather permitting, participants will also visit tracts, shown in yellow, that the Civil War Trust is in the process of acquiring.
Tour Time: 9 AM – 12:30 PM
Meet at the Steward County Visitor Center in Dover, 117 Visitor Center Drive.
Tour Tips: Carpooling is highly recommended as the tour will go to sites with very limited parking. The tour will include short walks over unpaved terrain, and will take place “rain or shine.” Dress appropriately for the weather, good walking shoes or boots are recommended.
There is no fee for the tour but Pre-Registration is required. The tour is limited to 25 participants. If the tour fills, we’ll keep a waiting list in case there are cancellations.
