TCWPA announces the next Three Star Battlefield tour in Chattanooga on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Tour the “Narrows” of the Tennessee River, today known as the Tennessee River Gorge. Explore sites and stories of a small group of Alabama Sharpshooters who, during the 1863 Siege of Chattanooga, fired upon the Union Army’s supply trains across the river. Their accurate fire closed a vital Union supply route and reduced the Army of the Cumberland to near starvation. Tour participants will visit seldom accessed, privately owned sites on both sides of the river, including sites on Raccoon and Signal Mountains.
For those who want to make a day of it, a secondary tour to the Sequatchie Valley to look at Joe Wheeler’s “Great Wagon Raid” site will continue after the morning tour.
The tour is open to the public; there is no fee. Pre-Registration is Required. Watch for tour details and registration information on this webpage.
